The first glass production factory – the " Real Fábrica de Vidros da Marinha Grande" – was established in the year 1769 by Marquês de Pombal as a favour to Guilherme Stephens.

   Since then, Marinha Grande, manufactures blown glass of high quality, keeping the tradition of the art of fire allied with the introduction of innovating techniques.
